Parent Volunteer Contact Info

Contact our PTA Volunteer Coordinator, if you would like information on the many ways you can volunteer.  Are you a working parent?  No problem!  There are many things you can do for your school from home or during non-school hours.  Do you have a special interest like gardening, astronomy, poetry, etc.?  Terrific!  We sure could use your expertise for clubs or activities!  Don't wait for "everyone else" to step forward.  Don't let them have all the fun!  Get involved!

School Profile

Hanson Elementary is a Title I school located in Ramona, a thriving community in north inland San Diego County. We serve approximately 650 students in grades kindergarten through six.  We have approximately 35 credentialed teachers and specialists to support our academic programs.

Although most county residents continue to think of Ramona as a semi-rural, agricultural community, the demographics of our town belie that historical descriptor. The outlying areas of Ramona continue to be an equestrian's paradise, with large acreages of groves and rangeland. A growing central Ramona is more reflective of a suburban or even urban neighborhood. We continue to respond to our students' needs by expanding our network of support for them and their families. Our current location, still in central Ramona, presents ample gifts in the form of nearby business partners, diversity, and intergenerational volunteers who help to make our school an extended family.

We take great pride in our new school. We are surrounded by the lovely hills that define our valley community, and students take pride of ownership in the generous landscaping and extensive raised planting areas in classroom patios. We are warmed by the many compliments we receive from parents and from outside agency personnel, who tell us that the moment they come into contact with our staff and our students they can truly feel the deep caring and respect that thrives on our campus. We have taken our Character Counts focus words to heart, and children live and learn with adults who actualize their responsibility to teach the whole child, and prepare each student to be a responsible citizen of character.

We have a vision of academic success for every child. Our decisions are driven by careful analysis of student data, and we are comfortable with a site based decision making process that considers the needs of the entire school. Hanson Elementary has a "global" perspective that has linked our teachers in a united vision.

Greetings Hanson Elementary School Family

Welcome back to the 2017-2018 school year! We’re happy to have our students returning to school and a special welcome to the new students and families joining our school.

The 2017-2018 school year for Hanson Elementary will be filled with lots of energy. Our schoolwide focus this year will continue to be on raising student achievement for our Hawks. In 2016, Hanson was honored with receiving the California Gold Ribbon and Title 1 Academic Achievement Award. I look forward to building on that success and continuing to foster high-achieving innovative thinkers.

I am so delighted to be the principal of Hanson Elementary. I am very passionate about education and I look forward to partnering with you to provide our students with a rigorous, engaging, and high-quality school experience. As the parent of two boys, I recognize the importance of a strong home-school connection. I believe that by working together, we can make sure your child's social, emotional and academic needs are met.

You are invited to be an active participant at Hanson Elementary. Whether you are a classroom volunteer, a member of the Parent Teachers Association (PTA) or School Site Council (SSC), special event participant, or a member of our English Language Acquisition Committee (ELAC), you are encouraged to be involved! Research on schools clearly demonstrates that parent participation in their child's school coincides with a greater likelihood of academic success for their child.

Here at Hanson we strive to create a safe and courteous environment. Kindness prevails and we respect each and every individual here on our campus.
Please feel free to share any important information with your child’s teacher so we may better serve your child and family. We believe that communication between parents, students, and teachers is critical for a successful year.

Again, welcome back and we look forward to an exciting and productive year here at HANSON!
